The Thirlmere SUP Tour, is aimed at existing paddle boarders looking for an adventure tour in amazing scenery with experienced guides.. The trip takes about 4 hrs, during which we paddle the length of the 6 km lake. On route we’ll aim to improve your paddling skills and efficiency, also teaching the basics of long distance SUP touring, navigation and reading weather conditions. The history of the lake is also fascinating, the original lake damed in the late 1800’s to supply a growing Manchester population with clean drinking water. The consequent environmental significance has been in dispute ever since.
The lake truly has a unique feel, with forested banks and steep rock walls on all sides its truly is a journey into a very wild and rugged environment!
As part of the session each participant will be provided with a Red Paddle co board, buoyancy aid and paddle, we also supply dry bags, we recommend bringing a flask and sandwiches. The session is fully guided and our instructor will be on hand to keep you safe and help you get the most out of your adventure.
Our dry suits can be hired at an additional cost of £15.
Alternatively you can bring your own wet suit, however to get the best out of the session we really really recommend our dry suits you’ll not regret it.
