Where we Paddle?

Derwentwater is undoubtedly the Jewel in the crown for Stand Up Paddleboarding in the English Lakes. Its proximity to Keswick and easy access by the A66 make it an ideal destination for your first paddle board intro Lesson or SUPfari river tour.

Derwent waters numerous islands, secluded bays and river mouths provide a stunning back drop to your paddling experience. The wild life is second to none, so keep a watchful eye out for Otters, Kingfishers, Ospreys and other Lake Land wildlife.

The Lake Districts third largest lake and probably its most famous. Home to Donald Campbell’s water speed record attempts and ultimate tragedy. Also as the inspiration for Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons story.

It’s a fantastic lake for stand up paddle boarding. Our launch site at Bank Ground farm is stunning, with views across the lake and up into the high fells and the Langdale pikes. The location is also home to the Swallows and Amazon Tea Rooms, where you can treat yourself to the best of everything Cumbrian from cream teas and cakes to lunch and evening meals.

Ullswater is the second largest lake in the English lake District, at 7.5 Miles long, it is also one of the most accessible, only 6 miles from  Penrith and the M6. For learning to Stand Up Paddleboard and SUP Touring, Ullswater is hard to beat, with remotes shore lines and rocky islands to explore. As well as the villages of Glenridding and Pooley Bridge, both great stopping of spots for refreshments and maybe a cheeky ice cream.

For the 2023 season our Windermere site at the Langdale Chase Hotel will be closed as the hotel undergoes an massive  refurbishment. Our nearest alternative site is on Coniston Water. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Windermere is the largest Lake in the Lake District at 11 miles long. Which makes it a very popular with Stand Up Paddle boarders from around the UK. All our SUP lessons and SUPfari river tours depart from The Langdale Chase Hotel, Ambleside.

The sheltered North end of  the Lake is perfect for learning to Paddle Board, with sheltered bays and easy access into the River Brathay. The close proximity to Ambleside’s lake side pubs make it a perfect location for stand up paddle boarding followed by a pint, what’s not to like?

Deriving its name from the Celtic word meaning ‘oak trees’, Lake District Paddleboarding’s river of choice runs from the shadow of the highest mountain in England, down the Borrowdale valley through ancient oak forests, all the way to the Irish sea.

Drawing on the experience and expertise of our instructors a SUP Safari River Tour enables you to become a part of the landscape and offers a unique and adrenaline fuelled perspective one of Britain’s most beautiful landscapes, naturally with a stop off for afternoon tea (or the pub) en route.
